How it works

This PDF metadata editor loads your file with the pdf-lib library and reads the document Information dictionary: Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, Producer, and the creation and modification dates. Edit any field and download an updated copy, or clear everything with one button to strip the metadata entirely. Cleared fields are removed from the PDF rather than saved as empty values.

Your PDF is never sent to a server. Parsing, editing, and saving all happen locally in your browser using JavaScript, which keeps the tool fast and private. It is free to use, works offline once loaded, and runs on any modern browser on both mobile and desktop.

Frequently asked questions

Does editing the metadata change the pages or content of my PDF?

No. Only the document Information dictionary is touched. The pages, text, images, and layout are written back exactly as they were, so the visible document is unchanged.

What does "Strip all metadata" remove?

It clears the Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, Producer, and both date fields, then removes those entries from the PDF when you download. This is useful before sharing a document, since these fields can reveal your name, software, or editing history.

Can it open password protected PDFs?

Encrypted or password protected PDFs cannot be read, and the tool will show an error. Remove the password in your PDF viewer first, then load the unlocked file here.

Are the dates shown in my local time zone?

Yes. Creation and modification dates are displayed and edited in your device's local time. When you save, they are written back to the PDF as standard timestamps.
